FAQs

Do you offer design services?

Yes! We are happy to work with you to design your dream space. All we need is a rough sketch of your room along with the length of each wall from corner to end, ceiling height, where you’d like your appliances, and the dimensions of your appliances. The sketch can be something as simple as an “L” indicating two walls in that shape. Oh, and did we mention that this is a free service for our customers?

Do all your cabinets have to be assembled?

Yes, all our cabinets are RTA which means “ready to assemble.” They arrive in flat pack boxes, waiting to be assembled. The cabinets come with the doors pre-hung and holes pre-drilled for shelving to make the assembly process as easy as possible for you. We also have assembly videos and illustrations available under the Assembly section. *We do offer an assembly option for Forevermark cabinets. The assembly fee is $20 per box. Assembled cabinets are excluded from free shipping due to the increased freight cost of shipping whole cabinets instead of flat pack boxes. Assembly will also add 1 more week to turnaround time.

How does the process work from start to finish if I use your design services?

At 3 Sons Cabinets, customer service is a priority. We want you to have a personalized experience. Once you send a message to us requesting design services, we will communicate with you every step of the way to make sure you get exactly what you want within your budget. If we don’t have what you need, we will suggest alternatives. Sometimes, RTAs are just not a great fit for someone. If it becomes apparent that you would be better suited for custom cabinets, we will be honest with you and let you know that. Our goal is for you to love the space you create!

After we receive the initial sketch from you with dimensions and appliance sizes and placement, we will create a preliminary design that includes a layout, elevations, and full color computer generated images. We will then work with you to perfect that design. We will send you a quote based on the final design we agree upon along with a payment link. Once your payment is received, we order your cabinets from our wonderful suppliers and have them drop shipped directly to you. Once your order ships, we will send you an email with detailed instructions about receipt of your delivery.

Do your cabinets have particle board in them?

Absolutely not! We do not carry any products with particle board. All our cabinet boxes are constructed of Baltic birch plywood.

Why do some of the cabinet doors have MDF in them?

Some of our painted styles have MDF panels in the doors. This is industry standard. Since cabinets are typically installed in areas prone to heat and high humidity, like kitchens and bathrooms, the wood in them tends to expand and contract. This expansion can lead to cracks and bubbles in the finish. This is especially true with painted cabinets. Most stained cabinets don’t have this issue since the stain penetrates deep into the wood.

Do your cabinets come with door knobs and drawer pulls?

No, our cabinets do not include knobs or pulls. Because every client has unique needs and tastes, we leave the cabinets blank for you to pick out the exterior hardware you need.

Are the interiors of the cabinets finished?

Yes! All the cabinet interiors are painted or stained to match the exteriors. This is just one of the many things we offer to maintain our high quality standards.

Do your cabinets require skins on the sides?

No! All of our cabinets come fully finished on the outside, including the sides. The only time you would need a finished back panel is for any cabinets whose backs will be exposed.

Do your cabinets come with soft close doors and drawers?

Yes! Soft close doors and drawers are standard on all our cabinets except for ones with bi-fold doors like lazy Susans or wall corner cabinets. Our drawers are also full-extension drawers, meaning when you pull them out, the back of the drawer comes all the way forward until it’s flush with the front of the cabinet.

Do you offer any environmentally friendly options?

Yes! We have several door styles that are Green Guard Gold certified and some whose materials are Forest Stewardship Council certified. Please refer to our Certifications page for further details.

Why are your prices so low? Is something wrong with your cabinets?

We are a family business, and we work from home. Because the cabinets are drop shipped, we do not have a showroom or warehouse to maintain, making our overhead costs low. As a result, we are able to mark our cabinets down over 60% below MSRP. The low prices are in no way an indication of the quality of our product. We strive to provide you with the highest quality RTA at the lowest price possible.

Why don’t you offer more colors or styles?

We are picky when it comes to quality which is why we choose to only sell what we would want in our own home. We would rather sell a few items with excellence and integrity than a huge selection with questionable quality. There are many other great RTAs out there, but we choose to stick with the vendors who we know meet our high standard for quality and whose prices are not outrageous for our customers.

Can we paint over your cabinets?

We don’t recommend painting our cabinets due to the fact that several of them have a special UV protective finish and water protective finish on them. Sanding that off and repainting them could compromise the integrity of the product as well as exclude you from the manufacturer’s warranty.

What is your turnaround time?

Once payment is received, your order is immediately submitted to the warehouse for processing and fulfillment. As long as everything is in stock, your order should be ready to ship within 3-5 business days. We use Southeastern Freight Lines and ABF Freight as carriers. Most of our cabinets ship from Baxley, GA, and the rest ship from New Jersey. When your order ships, you will receive a call or text from the freight company to schedule delivery. Depending on where you live, it could take 1-7 business days to deliver. Sometimes, things happen to disrupt the normal delivery time. This happened during the Covid pandemic and with Hurricane Helene. These are exceptional circumstances that are beyond our control.

What sizes do your cabinets come in?

Our cabinets come in 3″ increments of width, starting with a 9″ wide cabinet and going up to a 36″ wide one.

Base cabinets are 24″ deep and 34.5″ tall. Wall cabinets are 12″ deep, except for a few bridge cabinets that are 24″ deep. They come in heights of 30″, 36″, or 42″, except for bridge cabinets that are 12″, 15″, 18″, or 24″ tall. Wall pantries and oven cabinets are 24″ deep and come in heights of 84″, 90″, and 96″. Vanities are 21″ deep and 34.5″ tall, which is taller than many standard vanities which are typically only 30″ tall. Vanity sink bases come in widths of 24″, 30″, and 36″.
